Tangoe Teams With Avalon Technology to Support
FSSI Mobile TEM Initiative
Tangoe, Inc., has teamed with Avalon
Technology to provide support for wireless
telecommunications expense management (TEM)
services within the federal government.
Avalon Technology —
a leader in mobile computing and communications
services and solutions —
was one of three companies recently awarded a
Federal Strategic Sourcing Initiative (FSSI)
Telecommunications Expense Management (TEM)
contract to support mobile TEM initiatives
within federal agencies. Through its strategic
partnership with Avalon, Tangoe will have the
opportunity to provide mobile TEM offerings to
at least thirteen military and civilian agencies
that participate in FSSI. Contract terms are for
two years with three one-year options, at an
estimated value of $93 million.
“With the
opportunity afforded to Avalon to create
tremendous value across multiple agencies, we
sought a partner capable of supporting a
contract of this magnitude,”
said Irv Rodrigues, president and CTO of Avalon
Technology. “Tangoe’s
extensive experience with large scale projects
and their shared vision of communications
life-cycle management, made them the obvious
choice. Avalon’s
success is driven by our strategic mission to
focus on managed mobility solutions for all
phases of the entire wireless management
lifecycle; Tangoe’s
TEM technologies will further enhance our
success as we support the government in reducing
wireless spend.”
“The global demand
and use of mobile communications and computing
devices in both private and enterprise market
segments has, in recent years, increased at
twice the rate of fixed line services and this
trend is expected to continue during the next
few years,” said Eric
Goodness, research vice president with leading
technology analyst firm Gartner.
“In addition, mobile
technologies and service offerings have also
experienced dramatic changes. In response to
these conditions, a focused approach to better
managing the entire lifecycle of enterprise
mobility will yield significant benefits to both
enterprise and government agencies alike.”
As part of the partner agreement, Avalon will
utilize Tangoe technologies and services that
will grant government agencies full visibility
over the mobile enterprise, thereby lowering the
total cost of ownership while improving quality
of service. Tangoe’s
patented technologies automate the procurement
and deployment of mobile devices and services,
and a web interface permits the appropriate
agency personnel to view all mobile
communications devices, users, services, and
carriers. Additionally, this technology provides
the agency with usage analysis and spending
trends and tracks them against more than 35,000
rate plans from multiple carriers to ensure rate
plan optimization.
“Teaming with an
organization of Avalon Technology’s
caliber to help reduce costs and improve the
performance of mobile services within the
federal government is an exciting opportunity,”
said Tangoe president and CEO Al Subbloie.
“Our experience
helping Global 2000 companies manage complex,
geographically-dispersed communications
environments with a large inventory of devices
and services, combined with Avalon’s
vast experience working with the federal
government and expertise in full wireless
lifecycle management, is a winning combination
that we’re confident
will sustain a successful partnership for many
years to come.”
