Cellular South Selects Openwaves Next Gen Service Management Solution

Cellular South, the largest privately held wireless provider in the U.S., has selected Openwave Integra, a next generation proxy designed to provide open, secure multimedia and multi-protocol service management support.

At Cellular South, our aim is to give wireless consumers top-quality service, including quick, easy access to the Internet from their handheld devices, said Jim Richmond, director of corporate communications, Cellular South. Service management solutions, like Openwave Integra, that can grow with our needs and enable new applications, new content types and new protocols are empowering us to implement new ways of doing business and continuously improving service for our customers.

Openwave Integra will help improve service for customers using Cellular Souths new, next-generation Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) portal, which allows wireless users to surf the Internet on their handsets and deploy applications without buying additional products or hardware. The system provides Cellular South users with a more sophisticated experience, including high-quality graphics and increased speed and versatility. Web browsers on the devices of all current and future Cellular South customers will access the Internet through Openwave Integra.

The users experience is critical; access and discovery of content and services needs to be fast, secure and easy to use, said Sean McNeill, head of Openwave's gateway business. Our Integra solution brings the capabilities of our mobile access gateway to the next level, providing open Internet browsing capabilities that embrace the Web 2.0 experience, and we applaud innovative operators like Cellular South who are embracing opportunities to improve the Internet experience on the mobile device.
