Nokia Siemens Networks speeds up TIM Brasil’s network with 3G WCDMA/HSPA

TIM Brasil – one of the largest carriers in the country – and Nokia Siemens Networks have signed a contract to deploy and service a WCDMA/HSPA network, offering high-speed mobile broadband data services in several Brazilian states of the South, Northeast and North regions.

Nokia Siemens Networks will be the single 2G/3G Packet Core Network supplier for the whole country and the main radio access network supplier to the states of Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Alagoas, Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Maranhão, Piauí, Pará, Amazonas, Roraima and Amapá. TIM’s network will be upgraded with industry-leading Flexi base stations.

Systems integration and network implementation services ensure speedy deployment, effective integration of the new elements and on time network launch to rapidly expand coverage and allow TIM to bring new services to its subscribers. Assisted operations of the network will help TIM to improve operational performance and ensure network uptime

The market leading WCDMA Flexi Base Station is the industry's smallest and most efficient base station with a unique design and architecture, and it will allow TIM Brasil to minimize network deployment and operational costs. The energy efficiency of Flexi Base Station underpins Nokia Siemens Networks’ commitment to environmentally sustainable solutions.

"Nokia Siemens Networks provides us innovative and efficient ways of delivering new services to our customers, and this 3G deployment enables us to achieve this by extending our broadband offering”, said Mario Cesar Pereira de Araujo, President, TIM Brasil.

“This collaboration will enable TIM Brasil to develop their network and services, support their growth strategy, increase customer loyalty and maximize customer value,” said Armando Almeida, Head for the Latin American Region, Nokia Siemens Networks.
