Dialogic Deepens its
Carrier-Grade Media Server Solution and Expands
Relationship with Sun Microsystems
Dialogic announced a series of enhancements
to the Dialogic®
IP Media Server, a carrier-grade, software-based
product that leverages open technologies to
provide a cost-effective and scalable IP media
server solution. The new IP Media Server
capabilities will allow service providers to
grow their target customer base and, at the same
time, reduce network management expenses.
Dialogic also announced that it has expanded
its relationship with Sun Microsystems by
validating the capabilities of the IP Media
Server product with servers in Sun’s
Netra™ line of
carrier-grade platforms. Dialogic’s
field-proven IP Media Server with top of the
line media processing capabilities combined with
Sun’s rugged
NEBS-certified Netra servers together form an
innovative platform to power a broad range of
media-rich next-generation services for wireline,
wireless, and broadband networks.
“The revenue
potential of rich media solutions in today’s
networks is tremendous,”
said Mark Butler, director, Netra Systems
Product Line, Sun Microsystems.
“However, carriers
are challenged with bringing down the
infrastructure cost of that first subscriber.
The combination of the flexibility and
cost-effectiveness of Dialogic’s
IP Media Server together with the
virtualization, compute and networking
technology of Sun’s
Netra platform can enable carriers to
significantly reduce that cost and to build the
foundation for cost-effective next-generation
networks.”
The capabilities of the IP Media Server
announced today by Dialogic include support for
an integrated T.38 Fax over IP (FoIP)
capability, which will allow service providers
and their messaging platform vendors to deploy
feature-rich voice messaging services in a mixed
business and residential environment.
The new release of the IP Media Server will
also help boost the profitability of enhanced
services with a substantial increase in the
verified capacity of each IP Media Server for
voice conferencing and messaging. Allowing the
same number of subscribers to be supported with
fewer servers helps reduce the cost and
complexity of network and system management.
“Dialogic is
firmly committed to enabling our partners to
continually innovate in the market for
media-rich next-generation services,”
stated Jim Machi, Senior Vice President of
Marketing at Dialogic. “We
do this not only by extending our product
capabilities to tap growth areas such as Fax
over IP (FoIP), but also by partnering with
industry leaders such as Sun Microsystems to
bring the most advanced solutions to our service
provider customers.”
