QUALCOMM's BREW(R) Solution Continues Strong Momentum with Leading CDMA Operators in Latin America

March 6

QUALCOMM Incorporated announced a number of significant milestones highlighting the success of the BREW solution amongst wireless operators in Latin America. Iusacell in Mexico, Movilnet in Venezuela and VIVO in Brazil, have all reached significant milestones for cumulative application downloads since launch. These achievements demonstrate the impact of QUALCOMM's BREW solution on the wireless data market in Latin America and globally.

In November 2005, VIVO, a company controlled by Portugal Telecom and Telefonica Moviles, and the largest operator of mobile telephony in the Southern Hemisphere, announced that it reached 15 million application downloads, since deploying its 'Vivo Downloads' service in March of 2003. Additionally, taking advantage of such popular BREW games as Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith from THQ Wireless, VIVO launched two new games, as well as new ring tones and wallpaper inspired by the movie.

In mid 2004, Iusacell in Mexico launched various 3G services and applications, for both consumers and mobile professionals, including BREW games such as Ojo Loco and Strip Clue, as well as entertainment applications such as Iusagol, all developed by ATI Latinoamerica. To date, Iusacell has achieved more than 2 million BREW application downloads. Venezuelan operator Movilnet, a Cantv company, launched BREW-powered 3G services in 2004, allowing the company's wireless subscribers to browse and download a variety of applications -- such as RingTone JukeBox(TM) from 9 Squared, Inc. and Asphalt: Urban GT(TM) from Gameloft, a leading international developer and publisher of games for mobile phones -- on their wireless devices. Since their launch, Movilnet subscribers have downloaded more than 1.5 million BREW applications.

"We are excited to see the booming popularity of BREW with these operators in Latin America, and find that it is indicative of the success operators are experiencing around the world with advanced wireless services based on the BREW solution," said Bob Briggs, vice president of global business relations and marketing for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "These leading operators have demonstrated a commitment to offering compelling and innovative wireless data services to customers throughout Latin America. QUALCOMM is honored to work with the entire wireless value chain to create new revenue opportunities for the industry and provide wireless subscribers the world over with an excellent user experience."
