Gemstar-TV Guide International, Inc. has entered into an agreement with KDDI Corporation, expanding its relationship in Japan with this leading information and communications company, which provides comprehensive fixed and mobile communications services. Since 2006, KDDI has been deploying Gemstar-TV Guides G-GUIDE® Mobile Interactive Program Guide (IPG) for mobile handsets. Under this new license agreement, KDDI and Gemstar-TV Guide intend to work to integrate 1-seg services with the G-GUIDE® Mobile IPG. Specific terms of the agreement were not otherwise disclosed.

We remain focused on broadening the relevance and reach of our guidance technology and services, particularly to emerging platforms such as mobile, IPTV and broadband, said Mike McKee, chief operating officer and president, Interactive Program Guides, Gemstar-TV Guide. Were very excited to expand our relationship with KDDI and look forward to working with them on further deployment of not only our G-GUIDE® Mobile IPG, but on other guidance services in Japan.
