Nokia Siemens
Networks shares its vision at WiMAX Forum Congress Asia 2008
At
WiMAX Forum Congress Asia 2008, Nokia Siemens Networks will
outline its vision for WiMAX and its innovative solutions
that will drive that vision forward. At the event, Michael
Murphy, Head of Technology, APAC, Nokia Siemens Networks
will also be highlighting the factors that are driving data
growth in the wireless broadband arena.
To date, several hundred broadband wireless access licenses
have been issued globally to a broad mix of service
providers, and WiMAX is the only solution available to those
license holders today. In addition, 7 of the Top 8 telecoms
infrastructure vendors are implementing WiMAX, supported by
a growing number of chipset vendors. The WiMAX momentum is
growing as global appetites for wireless broadband access
take off.
“We believe that 5 billion people will be connected by 2015,
four billion of them over broadband. This phenomenal growth
will be accompanied by a 100-fold increase in traffic over
the world’s networks, making innovation across the entire
ecosystem a requirement for today’s operators,” states
Murphy. “This is something which we at Nokia Siemens
Networks are in an excellent position to deliver.”
Adds Murphy, “While WiMAX will be deployed in some
greenfield situations, it will also complement other
broadband technologies in others. As such, both scenarios
need to be considered by leading vendors.”
Nokia Siemens Networks is committed to helping
communications service providers understand the changing
market dynamics and transform their business in order to
secure long-term growth.

WiMAX is an optimal connection for Internet services. In
addition to having easy and ‘always on’ access to the
Internet, new types of services could be offered over WiMAX.
For instance, an electronic magazine application is used to
demonstrate a future application for which WiMAX serves as
an optimal connection. The Electronic magazine service could
be witnessed at our stand over live Flexi WiMAX Base Station
and ASN Gateway.
