Telstra delivers wireless
mobile ATMs for major events
More convenient banking for
people attending major outdoor events has been made
possible by a new initiative between Telstra and the
National Australia Bank (NAB). This initiative has
allowed the rapid deployment of ATMs into temporary
locations without the need for connecting to physical
communication lines.
NAB has leveraged their investment
in new ATMs by connecting to the power of the Telstra's
Next G™ network. These ATMs will be deployed at major
motor sports and cultural events across Australia to
provide convenient access to cash for the public.
Group Managing Director, Telstra
Enterprise and Government, Mr David Thodey, said
Telstra's Next G™ network has been designed to provide
companies with a wide range of seamless mobile
connectivity solutions that offer reliability and
flexibility - and this is now being taken advantage of
by the financial services industry.
"It's great to work with an
innovative bank like NAB to harness the power of the
Next G™ network. This innovation has enabled the rapid
deployment of ATMs into temporary locations saving time
and money as well as eliminating the need for temporary
lines."
"The new ATMs powered by the Next
G™ network were launched at Melbourne's recent
International Flower Show and this follows a successful
pilot at the Formula One Grand Prix that received very
high customer uptake," Mr Thodey said.
Telstra will work with NAB to have
the Next G™ network powered ATMs available at the
following events:
- Royal Melbourne Show (Flemington)
- September 2008
- Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 -
October 2008
- Gold Coast Indy - October 2008
- Moto GP (Phillip Island) -
February 2009
