New Wireless Router Claims to be Greener

ZyXEL Communications, provider of broadband solutions, rolled out its first Green Wireless Routers. This includes the Wireless N Gigabit Router series, NBG460N, and NBG420N. Featuring the customizable wireless scheduler, the NBG460N and NBG420N can be configured to be wireless enable/disable, depending on the wireless usage schedule.

Power consumption and other green issues are becoming a big challenge in the IT industry. Offering the extreme 8x faster application date throughput (up to 300 Mbps) and 5x wider coverage than legacy 802.11b/g standard, the 802.11n Draft 2.0 technology represents the next generation of wireless solution. With this technology, NBG460N and NBG420N wireless broadband routers provide reliable, high performance throughput, and coverage. It aims to support the most demanding triple play applications such as online game, HD streaming, and the mission-critical applications for the SOHO users.

With ZyXEL exclusive Media Bandwidth Management (MBM v2), NBG460N, and NBG420N enable management of bandwidth for priority support to video streams or VoIP. With a push of a button, the Wi-Fi Protective Setup (WPS) delivers the security standard through the easy wireless security setup. For certain remote access, NBG460N and NBG420N support 2 IPSec VPN tunnels for remote site to central server. This ensures the security transmission. For the optimal cover and the elimination of dead zone, three removable dipole antennas are available on the users' demand.
