NMS Communications Extends Reach of Its Award-Winning AccessGate(TM) Product Line in Asia/Pac; NMS Signs the Dancom Group to Distribute Throughout Southern and Southeast Asia

Sept. 6, 2005

NMS Communications has expanded its reach into the Asia/Pacific market by signing the Dancom Group as a distributor for its award-winning AccessGate(TM) wireless backhaul optimization solutions.

NMS's AccessGate family of radio access network optimizers is deployed in mobile operator networks worldwide and has been specifically designed to optimize the transport of GSM voice and data traffic over wireless networks. AccessGate enables mobile operators to both reduce operational expenses and also roll out new services to subscribers more quickly and cost-effectively.

Because of the tremendous demand for new types of mobile services - most of which are bandwidth-intensive - and rapid subscriber growth in the world's most populous areas, global mobile operators are increasingly challenged to manage the steadily growing demands placed on their backhaul bandwidth. Many operators are also faced with runaway operational expenses associated with the deployment of new geographically dispersed cell sites and their interconnection to core networks. NMS's AccessGate solutions are designed to reduce the number of dedicated backhaul connections needed to support both subscriber growth and the launch of new wireless services.

The Dancom Group is a leading market-oriented organization that provides quality telecommunications and IT solutions in the Asia/Pacific region. Dancom customizes its solutions to fit the specific communications requirements of all of its customers. Dancom will distribute NMS's AccessGate in Malaysia, Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

"There is a lot of opportunity for AccessGate in Southern and Southeast Asia due to the prevalence of remote locations and rugged terrain," said Abu Bakar Sharif, director of the Telecommunications Solutions and International Group at Dancom. "We have been searching for a solution like AccessGate to add to our offering, and NMS came highly recommended by our business partners. We are confident this will be a beneficial relationship for both companies."

AccessGate is currently deployed in wireless backhaul networks of mobile operators worldwide and continues to prove its reliability and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, AccessGate solutions have been thoroughly field-tested for interoperability with all major base station subsystem equipment providers, ensuring that they will flexibly meet the specific needs of any operator's access infrastructure environment.

"It was important that we find a partner who could capitalize on the market potential for AccessGate in this critical region," said Critz Chan, vice president and general manager of NMS Asia. "Dancom has an excellent operator network and strong business relationships throughout Southern and Southeast Asia as a result of its radio and satellite transmission product lines. This partnership is key to the ongoing success of AccessGate in rugged and dispersed geographical areas such as these."
